The 69 sex position: Half the time, double the fun of oral sex

The 69 sex position: Half the time, double the fun of oral sex

by Editorial Team
My inches. Yesterday,

Are you big fan of oral sex? Does your partner match your excitement when it comes to going down? If your answer is yes, then 69 is a sex position that is tailor-made for you.

How to do it?

69 is a position where both partners are mutually inverted and perform oral sex on each other at the same time. It can be performed both with man on top and woman on top. Some people even do it sideways as it is a more relaxed position than others. Despite its popularity, 69 is not an easy position to master and can take some co-ordination and manoeuvring for both partners to get comfortable.

Pros

Being tough to master, 69 can be a great way to improve coordination and make both partners understand each other really well. This is always a plus in any sex position. 69 can be a great position to spice things up. If things are getting boring and monotonous in the bedroom, 69 will make it fun and challenging again! It also saves time as you don't have to take turns to perform oral sex. Another major benefit is that chance of unwanted pregnancies is nil. The risk of transmission of sexually transmitted diseases is also lower than unprotected anal or vaginal sex. However, it can lead to STDs like herpes, throat, Chlamydia and throat gonorrhoea. You should know your partner's sexual history to be safe.

Cons

Oral sex is not for everyone and thus this position won't be too. Also one partner may come before the other and that can take the whole steam out of this sex position.  Both partners need to be compatible in terms of weight and height. Otherwise, this sex position will become too uncomfortable to enjoy. The nature of this sex position is such that some people feel suffocated while performing it.

The 69 or soixante-neuf (to use its proper French name) is kind of like fine wine. Some love it and swear by it, while others, no matter how good the wine, would rather stick to beer. So try it and let us know whether you're a wine connoisseur or a beer guzzler!

Does your gym have these 10 IRRITATING personalities?

Does your gym have these 10 IRRITATING personalities?

by Nirmalya Dutta

What do you hate the most about your fellow gym goers? Is it their incessant chattering, their sweaty, smelly bodies or the fact that some of them seem to confuse the gym for their living room? Here are the top 10 kinds of people you're likely to run into in the gym who will make you feel particularly murderous:

 The Loudmouth

While the mobile has done great things for the world, completely revolutionising the dissemination of information, it has also given idiots a 24/7 talking device which should be surgically attached to their ears. This person will always be completely impervious to 'no mobiles please' signs and loves to chat away while working out. Then you'll again get to hear him/her complaining that they don't lose any weight after spending hours at the gym every day!

The Equipment Hogger

While hogger might not really be a word, we thought it was one that needed to be created to define this particular gym-goer type. The Hogger seems to live under the impression that he's the only one that has paid for membership and take their sweet time with every machine. They tend to exercise even more slowly when they see someone else waiting for the machine and make you want to unload all the free weights on his head.

The Sweater

Perhaps the most hated of all types of gym-goers, The Sweater leaves huge puddles of salty water wherever he goes. He leaves it on the bench, on the dumbbells, the mats and even the floors. To make up for his overactive glands, The Sweater is also blessed with a shameless gland which prevents him from feeling the any shame. He is also allergic to towels, tissues and other materials that can be used to wipe sweat.

The Know-It-All

Present without fail in every gym, this person looks friendly and amicable in the beginning and gives good-natured advice when you first enter the gym. Pretty soon, the drizzle becomes a torrent and it becomes a task to tell him to shut up and let you exercise in peace. (Also read: Gymming incomplete without a personal trainer)

The Laze-Around

The purpose of the gym is lost on this person who treats the gym like his living room. The Laze-Around is likely to be around the cardio equipment, moving along at a snail's pace. He hates going towards the weight section and if he does find himself in there, takes 20-minute breaks between each set.

 The Gaper

While this isn't a personality unique to the Indian subcontinent, they are far likelier to occur here having not seen the female of their species in gym clothes before (or so it appears). The Gaper's raison d'etre at the gym seems to simply check out women. He becomes particularly excited he spots a tank top or a short skirt. Understandably, the female of the species are extremely wary of him and it's his kind which makes many of them workout at home.

The Music Aficionado

There's always one person at the gym who irrespective of the exercise he's doing is extremely bothered about the kind of music that's playing in the gym. The DJ's chosen genre, song or beat never pleases him and the notion that he can get his own iPod to listen to is lost on him.

The Stinker

Similar and sometimes identical to The Sweater, the Stinker too shares a similar aversion to basic hygiene. Deodorants, sticks and other forms of body odour inhibitors just don't interest this man.

The Locker Room Slob

The Locker Room Slob is one who treats the bathroom like her own bathroom. She likes to leave objects on the floor like towels, tissues, gym clothes, cosmetics and other assorted items. She also has a tendency to spend an inappropriately long amount of time in the shower or laboratory and makes one more murderous by singing in the shower!

The Gossipers

This is one gym personality that likes to roam around in herds. They usually arrive in groups and seem least bothered with exercising. They behave like the gym's their local watering hole and spend hours discussing everything under the sun without working up a sweat.

So we told you our least favourite gym personalities. Do you have any you want to add to the list?

Health benefits of cinnamon (dalchini)

Health benefits of cinnamon (dalchini)
by Pavitra Sampath

Cinnamon or dalchini is a staple addition to curries, pulav and biryani, but did you ever think that that tiny little bark could protect you from a host of illnesses right from cancer to cough and cold? Well, it sure can. Here are the top ten health benefits of cinnamon:

Helps keep diabetes under check: According to a study published in the Diabetes Care Journal [1], cinnamon was a highly effective remedy against diabetes, especially type 2 diabetes. The study stated that the spice has the ability to improve one's glucose levels and lipid levels by activating his/her insulin receptors. It also reduces the total serum glucose, triglycerides and the total cholesterol of a person since it stimulates the enzyme systems that regulate one's carbohydrate metabolism. Cinnamon also has amazing vasodialatory properties that help beat the risk of cardiovascular disease – a common condition seen in diabetics. (Read: Home remedies for diabetes)

Tip: Cinnamon tea is one of the most beneficial methods to beat diabetes. To make the tea, boil cinnamon in water for 15 minutes. The water will turn brown in colour, strain the liquid and drink. To add flavor you could add a few leaves of tulsi while boiling and add a spoon of honey for sweetness. Keep sipping on this tea throughout the day.

Can help delay the onset of Alzheimer's:  A study conducted at the Tel Aviv University [2] found that the extract of cinnamon, when administered on a daily basis to patients with Alzheimer's improved their longevity and bettered the locomotor defects they experience once afflicted with the disease. Cinnamon extract also known as CEppt, inhibits tau aggregation (tau is a type of protein that aggregates around that part of the nerves that is responsible for transmitting impulses of the brain) and filament formation (a process that is thought to be due to the accumulation of tau protein) which in turn protects the brain from the onset of Alzheimer's and can also help in slowing down the progression of the disease. (Read: Alzheimer's disease – it's more common than you think)

Tip: To help protect you from disease, have a teaspoon of freshly ground cinnamon with a little bit of honey. Have this every day on an empty stomach. If you find this mixture too pungent, try having it as tea.

Helps protect you from cancer: In a study done by the USDA (United States Agricultural Department), it was found that cinnamon extract was a potent weapon against leukaemia and lymphomas. The study found that the extract worked by blocking the path of certain components that were important for the regeneration of the cell, inhabited the further multiplication of cancerous cells, and slowly reduced their spread. It also found that the higher the amount of extract the better the results. Remarkably, the extract only inhibited the growth of unhealthy cells and left the healthy cells untouched unlike conventional therapies like chemotherapy, etc. (Read: Can herbal remedies beat cancer?)

Tip: Add cinnamon to your daily diet either by sprinkling it on your food or with honey.

Relieves arthritic pain: Cinnamon is packed with a compound known as cinnamomum, which has very strong antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that make it a great home remedy for arthritic pain. Its natural heating mechanism provides added relief to aching joints.

Tip: Grind cinnamon into a fine paste with water and apply on the aching joints. You can place a soft muslin cloth on the paste to keep the paste wet for longer.

Helps in digestion: Cinnamon is packed with mineral manganese, fibre, essential oils and calcium. The calcium and fibre combine with bile salts and help in their transport outside the body. The essential oils, help regulate the action of gastric juices on food, improves digestion, assimilation and its anti inflammatory properties helps reduce the inflammation caused due to indigestion, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and ulcers. Moreover the fibre content helps to relieve constipation and diarrhoea. (Read: 10 Home remedies for constipation)

Tip: To relieve a stomach upset have cinnamon tea infused with mint leaves about two to three times a day.

Helps with weight loss: Cinnamon has great digestive properties, it helps with weight loss by regulating the breakdown of carbohydrates and the production and use of insulin by the body. It also helps improve the digestion and assimilation of food within the body, helping one lose weight. (Read: Herbs for weight loss)

Tip: Drink cinnamon tea with a teaspoon of honey every day, half an hour before breakfast. Alternatively you could add cinnamon powder to your meal by sprinkling it on your salad, coffee or other foods.

Helps beat acne: Cinnamon is a common spice and flavouring agent but the essential oil it contains also has strong anti-microbial properties. The water activity of honey is very low and this means that it does not contain a lot of moisture which can promote the growth of microorganisms. Considering that pimples often arise from an infection within the pores of the skin, combining cinnamon with honey is an effective remedy. (Read: Herbal remedies to get rid of pimples)

Tip: Crush a little cinnamon, and add a bit of honey to make it into a paste. Now apply it on the pimple and leave for a few minutes. You can leave it on overnight also for added benefit. Wash off the paste with warm water and watch that pimple vanish.

Helps cure a cold and cough: Known for its antibiotic and body warming properties, cinnamon is a formidable remedy against a cold and cough. It not only helps to relieve the congestion commonly experienced with a cold, it is also great for a sore throat when combined with ginger, tulsi and honey.

Tip: Boil a small crushed piece of ginger, a few leaves of tulsi  leaves, crushed black pepper in two cups of water. Cover the vessel with a lid and let the mixture boil at a low heat. When the solution has simmered for about ten minutes, strain the liquid, add a teaspoon of honey and drink. It should be warm. This solution will not only soothe an irritated throat, it will also clear up the blocked nasal passage and sinuses.

Beats heart disease and atherosclerosis: Packed with fibre and calcium, cinnamon is great for the heart. Since the fibre and calcium and help transport bile salts outside the body, the body produces more bile salts for other bodily functions by breaking down cholesterol. This directly translates to lower cholesterol levels which protect the heart from blockages and the arteries from atherosclerosis.

Tip: Have a teaspoon of cinnamon powder everyday on an empty stomach. You can add honey or drink it with warm water.

Fights tooth decay: Cinnamon oil is known for its antibacterial properties. It is essentially good for the teeth and gums. Cinnamon not only beats tooth decay but also helps prevent gingivitis and bad breath.

Tip: If you are suffering from bad breath, gargle with cinnamon infused water (cinnamon boiled in water). For toothache and gingivitis, chew on a small piece of cinnamon, to get some relief.

Finally, do what you may with it, but adding just that exact amount of cinnamon is the best thing you can do for your body.

It is important to remember that these are only home remedies for ailments. Please be sure to visit your doctor if you have a serious ailment or the symptoms persist.

How I trained Jessica Alba, my first client

How I trained Jessica Alba, my first client

by Ramona Braganza

Ramona Braganza, celebrity trainer tells us how she ended up training Jessica Alba and discovered the 3-2-1 fitness method.

Without looking for it, my first job as a trainer found me. And what an incredible opportunity it was. In 1998, a writer friend had just written a TV show called Dark Angel and approached me to train the actress on it – none other than Jessica Alba. When I first started working with Jessica, she was only 17. She was sweet and young, and almost like the sister I always wished I'd had.

People often ask me how I began my career in the fitness industry. I tell them I was always active as a child and teenager. Gymnastics was where I spent most of my spare time from ages 4 to 18, followed by over a decade of dancing with the NFL team the LA Raiders. I then moved into fitness contests, which gave me my first introduction to the world of bodybuilding. And then this amazing opportunity to train Jessica landed in my lap.

We worked on Dark Angel for two seasons and then continued together on various other movies, including Honey, Into the Blue and Fantastic Four. Being on the road was a great deal of fun but it was also challenging: time is limited and equipment can be too. And this was particularly true on our two-week shoot deep in the rain forests of Borneo.

There, I had to be creative. For cardio, I had Jess run around the resort pool. And bodyweight exercises replaced dumbbells to keep muscle tone. Then Jess came up with the idea of breaking the cardio up into segments. Our circuit of 3 exercises done 3 times, keeping reps high and weight medium, kept her heart rate up and gave her a quick workout she could do every morning before her 16-hour shoot day.

Over the years, the workout has adjusted depending on the movies we did. And it also got a name – the 3-2-1 Training Method.

Our biggest challenge came after the birth of her baby, Honor. A Campari ad she'd committed to had been scheduled less than three months after the birth, so this gave us a clear goal. We started training within two weeks after Honor was born. Luckily, a few months before this, I had already started workouts with another new mom and client of mine – Halle Berry. (How Ramona got Jessica and Halle to shed their post pregnancy weight)

This workout would eventually be named 3-2-1 Baby Bulge Be Gone and would also be used with client and new mom Ashley Simpson Wentz as she prepared for her role on Melrose Place. Jess had amazing results, dropping 25 pounds in two and a half months, but I credit a lot of her success to the continuous training she did from age 17-29. Her body was able to bounce back – just like Halle's and others mums who include a form of exercise into their daily lives.

In my life at 49, exercise has been a big factor in keeping me feeling and looking younger. I couldn't imagine life without activity. That's why a big part of my message to all young girls and women I meet is this: it's never too early or late to start. DO IT FOR YOU!

Ramona Braganza is a celebrity fitness trainer who is well known for training the likes of Jessica Alba, Halle Berry and Ryan Reynolds. However, they're not her only clients and she has transformed the lives of thousands across the globe with her 3-2-1 fitness method which consists of 3 cardio segments, 2 circuit strength training segments and 1 core segment. She is also specialises in post-pregnancy weight loss and is as adept at helping Hollywood's top ladies slim down as she is at helping her male clients add size and strength. Go for the glossy look this festive season

Go for the glossy look this festive season
by Agencies

Women often wonder whether to try matt make-up or glossy one. An expert says try glossy to make your face glow, but avoid it during summer or humid weather.

'Make-up that's matt will not have a wet shine or glow to it as the foundation has been settled with powder. When you are wearing matt make-up, a glow can be brought about by adding a powder blush or shimmer,' says make-up artist Renuka Pillai.

'Shine make-up or what I would rather call 'glossy', gives a more dewy effect as the foundation used is generally a liquid or a tinted moisturiser with minimal powdering. It gives a rather nice glow to the face,' she added.

She suggests to highlight cheekbones, add a bronzer or creamy highlighter.

Glossy make-up gives the glow that we thrive for, but Pillai says to check the season too.

'During summer season, try and keep it matt. Sometimes, glossy can get a little oily looking if there is humidity,' she explains. (Read: Make-up tips for the fresh-faced look)

Take a break from technology for the sake of your sanity!

Take a break from technology for the sake of your sanity!

by Mansi Kohli
My penis size is 5 inches. Will it satisfy my wife? (Sex query of the ...

Today, technology is prevalent in our lives and we are certainly used to if not dependent on it to a large extent. But most people fail to gauge in the potential negative consequences that it may produce in the long run.

Multitasking with technology has its drawbacks

One thing that technology has done for us is teach us to multi-task. Trying to squeeze in too much in too less time, we often eat while replying to emails on our phones or go for walks whilst chatting on our mobiles or even check our phones in the middle of the night to not miss out on the latest update. While this may be perceived as a good thing by many, there are some ill-effects of multi-tasking too much. (Read: Which of these 5 technology related health problems do you have?)

It can lead to problems in your attention, concentration, working memory and problem-solving capacity.
People who multi-task suffer from a mental burnout. As a result, they tend to be impulsive, erratic, depressed and angry.
If done over a longer period of time, multi-tasking impairs our capacity to learn and recall.
Researchers in psychology have found that people who multi-task experience a decline in their intelligence as compared to those who do not.
Trying to 'fit in' online will cost you

Today, people feel extremely unsure and undesirable about themselves. As a result, they chase possessions, technology, events and social media to create a desirable impression. They feel that if they are not 'out there' people will consider them undesirable and reject them. However, the sad part is that no matter whatever one does, this fear is never-ending. The person never feels reassured and spends the most productive time and resources of their life in getting unnecessary attention. (Read: Are you an internet addict?)

Are you missing out on real life?

For several people, expressing personal emotions on social media is to catch other people's attention. It makes them feel important that other people are following them, reading about them and discussing about their personal lives.

For some people social media has sadly become more important than real life. I recently saw a depressed 24-year-old who only had an online circle. Due to his internet addiction, he had drifted away from his friends and therefore had no option but to express his emotions on social media in order to feel lighter.

Some people who are inhibited or anxious to confront real life dilemmas find social media a safer bet to unload their emotional baggage. It is also easier for them to propose, accept and reject people on social media. They feel that they can get away with the immediate emotional reaction from others. (Read: Is Facebook strengthening or ruining friendships?)

Tips to reduce dependency on technology

Exercise your brain where you can: For matters where you can use your brain, do not bother using a gadget. Simple things, like doing mental mathematics and remembering numbers will go a long way in exercising your brain and keeping your memory healthy.

No gadget time or no gadget place: Make this simple rule. Every day, without fail have a no gadget time where you can dump all technology away, sit and daydream –this will enhance your creative thinking and problem solving abilities. Alternatively, you can make a 'no gadget space' in your home where you will be without any gadget. It is best to keep gadgets away from your bedroom so that you can relax and interact with your partner.

Overcome your fears: If you have social anxiety, confront it and heal it. Do not use social media as a shield. The more open you are about your feelings in the real world, the better you and people around you would feel. Also, if you overuse social media because of the fear of being left out, you need to reason out whether the fear is rational or irrational. Most of the time, such fears are irrational, based on little evidence. Challenge this fear in your mind and overcome it.

Stop notifications: Almost every other person has a smartphone these days which gives us minute-by-minute update of various things and people. Do you really need that all the time? It is good to be connected but letting it become a way of life isn't. If your job permits, make it a habit to switch off notifications after work or at least over the weekend. This way, you won't be staring at your phone every 2 minutes.

Log in, log out: Don't keep a tab of social networking sites open all day long on your computer. Log in, check out what you have to and then log out. You can do this multiple times a day and slowly bring down the number to once or twice a day.

Take out time for hobbies: When there is nothing else to do, you fiddle with your phone, playing games, looking up people's profiles, etc. Instead, read a book or talk to your sibling or go out for a walk. Think of things you can do in your spare time than staring at your phone.

Dumbbells – are they better than machines?

Dumbbells – are they better than machines?

My penis size is 5 inches. Will it satisfy my wife? (Sex query of the ...

Go into any gym and you'll be besieged with a variety of different machines – the Cable Pulley Machine, the Smith Machine and so many more that you'd feel like they have actually taken over. These days it's quite common to see many gym-goers who don't even approach the dumbbell rack, which begs the question, are machines better than dumbbells?

Dumbbells – Pros

Cheap, affordable and convenient

If you don't want to spend enormous amounts on a gym membership and want to workout at home then the dumbbell is your weapon of choice. Most of the gym machines would cost you a small fortune; on the other hand dumbbells are affordable, conveniently-shaped and easy-to-use. Of course if you're a buying a pair and want to do some serious training we suggest buying at least 3 different weight ranges because some of your muscles are more powerful than others (for example your shoulders or chest muscles can handle far more weight than your biceps) and also your body is likely to get used to the same weight range.

Better for your overall body

A workout with dumbbells takes more out of your body than machines because you need to always maintain good form and posture. While in a machine, the muscle you need to work on is isolated here you are required to make adjustments to your body to maintain proper form and posture which will work the smaller muscles throughout a body. On the whole you'll get more balanced, more coordinated and also become stronger because you will be using more muscles than when you're using a machine. (Exercises for bigger arms)

Dumbbells – Cons

Higher chance of injury

One of the major benefits of machines is that anyone can use them without much help. Your arc of motion is clearly defined and safeguards are in place to prevent injuries. Dumbbells on the other hand require a greater degree of control and expertise and we would actually advise you to show an expert to show it to you before you start pumping iron.

More isolated targeting with machines

One of the dumbbells' pros is actually a con too because while dumbbells work more muscles throughout your body, the machines help isolate the exact muscles you want to build and you might get more aesthetic results faster. (Get a chest like Hrithik with these exercises)

Verdict: It varies from person to a person but a complete workout should include both dumbbells and machines, depending on how comfortable you are in the gym and what your fitness goals are. That being said many bodybuilders prefer a mix of free weights and machines for a complete result.

8 tips for teeth that last for life

8 tips for teeth that last for life

Get a sparkling smile by following simple daily habits like brushing your teeth regularly, cutting down on sugar intake between meals and limiting your alcohol intake and smoking. Amit Rai, an award winning General Dental Practitioner based in London, shares some basic tips that can help you achieve a healthy and clean set of teeth, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

Change your toothbrush: A worn out toothbrush cannot clean your teeth properly and may even damage your gums. Change your toothbrush every two or three months, or sooner if the bristles become splayed. Using an electric toothbrush can help against brushing too hard. (Tips to choose a toothbrush)

Brush before breakfast: You should brush twice a day and never straight after eating as acids can soften the outer layer of tooth enamel which you might wash away. Also don't forget to brush your tongue which can help to banish bad breath.

Think twice about whiteness: If you are keen to have white teeth, first try a toothpaste with a gentle whitener that brings out your teeth's natural whiteness. Always visit your dentist if considering any whitening treatments to be sure that they are safe and effective. (Get whiter teeth with these simple tips)

Cut back on sugar between meals: Grazing on sweet treats and sugared drinks can cause dental caries since your mouth takes around an hour to neutralise sugar attacks. (Top oral hygiene mistakes)

Quit smoking: Smoking can prevent you from having gleaming, healthy teeth as it can turn your teeth yellow as well as increase your risk of developing gum disease and mouth cancer. (Smoking and oral health)

Limit your alcohol: Excessive alcohol consumption has been linked to an increased risk of developing mouth cancer. White wine, cider and alcopops are considered to be particularly erosive to teeth. (Ten foods for healthier teeth)

Limit acids: Citrus fruit can be very acidic, just like pickle and fizzy drinks. Remember to swill your mouth with water afterwards to buffer their harmful effects. Also, use a straw when drinking fizzy drinks.

Don't ignore the warning signs: Suffering from twinges, dental pain or bleeding gums can be your mouth's way of telling you that you need to see the dentist. Dental check-ups should be no longer than every six months. But they might be more or less frequent depending upon what your dentist says.
